~ A New (to me) Twist on Image Coloring ~

Ok, so I’m really excited to share something new with you all today. I was having a chat with my girl Theresa W. yesterday afternoon when she asked me if I has seen these images that are colored without the normal black lines we all tend to use. She led me to this blog, called Make It Crafty.
I made my first attempt last evening and shared the results on facebook. This was what I achieved on the first go:
Even though I still have a long way to go, I really love the effect. I first stamped my image in Blush Blossom ink and with the help of my stand up magnifying glass, I began to color.
This morning I decided to give it yet another shot. I decided to do a side by side comparison of the regular way (black lines) and no lines. Here is a picture of the uncolored images:
As you can see, the one stamped in Blush Blossom is very hard to see. I decided to stamp my image on acetate as well so that I could overlay that on the image to check myself as I colored. I then began coloring each image.
No doubt the black line image is easier for these old eyes, but I absolute love the softness of the no line coloring.
I decided to make this card for today’s SCS CAS challenge:

Colors: GP White, My Mind’s Eye dp
Ink: Blush Blossom, Chocolate Chip, copics
Accessories: swiss dots embossing folder, pink 1/2 pearls

I knew I’d get you hooked on this…I’m glad I color with Anglea and Carissa who I watched do this and heard them scream and yell about the hair. They love this technique. You did fabulous. Both images look great – with and without lines. I just love the fact that the w/o line looks like a painting.

Being a lover of comic books, I had a really hard time drawing without lines in my university art class. I was only allowed to shade, but not use the edge of the charcoal to define ANY lines. The instructor told me to just draw the shadows in their varying degrees. See shadows, not lines.
Oh it was so hard. By the end of the FOUR MONTHS, I was just starting to get it right. Took me that long to let go of my lines!
