~Rustic Birthday~

Here’s a challenge for you.  Make a male Birthday card in a winter theme.

I’ve got three birthdays between now and Christmas.   I’m slowly but surely obtaining my goals.  I know my husband is going to see this before his birthday, and that’s ok.  He’ll get  surprise inside!

~*~*~

I kept this pretty simple.  The woodgrain paper is so amazing.

~*~*~

I used:

Stamp Simply Clear Stamps – O Christmas Tree
stamp die combo
Stamp Simply Clear Stamps – Birthday Sentiments

Craft Consortium – 6×6 – wood textures
Tim Holtz distress inks:
Antique Linen
Gathered Twigs
Daubers
Burlap String – Copper
1/4″ ScorTape

Thermaweb 3D 1/4″ foam squares

other:
Craft cardstock
Copper brads

~Blue Poinsettia~

I’ll have a blue Christmas without you
I’ll be so blue jet thinking about you
Decorations of red on a green Christmas tree
Won’t be the same thing if you’re not here with me
And when the snowflakes do fallin’
Yes when the blue memories starts callin’
I’ll be doin’ all right with your Christmas of white
And I’ll have a blue blue Christmas

Over the last three days, I’ve watched at least 6 Hallmark Christmas movies. The tree finally made it into the house.  New ornaments are on the way (red/silver tree this year).  Parties are planned.  I even listened to a bit of Mannheim Steamroller.  Slap a santa hat on my head and call me in the spirit.

Several years back, I started a tradition to make a Christmas card in non-traditional colors.  I’ve just about got all the colors covered.  I realize that have never done one in blue and gold.

~*~*~

My only tiny complaint about the gold is that it’s so bright it picks up colors around it.

~*~*~

~*~*~

I used:

Stamp Simply Clear Stamps – Jesus

Bazzill Gold mirrored cardstock

Spectrum Noir Ultrasmooth Premium white cardstock

Spellbinders – poinsettia die
Versamark
Ranger Fine Gold embossing powder

Darice – Snowflake Scroll embossing folder

1/4″ ScorTape
Thermaweb 3D 1/4″ foam squares

other:
Blue cardstock
Nuvo drops – gold

This week I was told by my doctor to rest.  I almost laughed.  Birthday party on Saturday.  Birthday on Tuesday.  Thanksgiving…. and the list goes on.  Yes, I tend to overextend myself.  I end up cancelling things or not sleeping.  Either way is bad.

So I had this card in mind.  The penny slider card from way back.  I love the rustic foreground and peeks of gold and plaid.  So simple.

You can find the basic instructions @ Splitcoaststampers on the tutorials page.  HERE.

~*~*~

My only advice is to ensure that your spacing on the spinner track is very even.  It makes the image spin freely.  I wish I had a way to do video so I can show you it in action!

~*~*~

This card is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2″.  It has three layers of dimensionals, making it rather chunky, too.

~*~*~

~*~*~

I used:

Stamp Simply Clear Stamps – Floral Cluster Winter Poinsettia
Stamp Simply Clear Stamps – Wonder of Christmas Sentiments

Stamp Simply Steel Dies – Floral Cluster & Sprigs

Spellbinders – Pierced Circles
Craft Consortium Wood Textures 12×12
Echo Park 6 x 6 – Here Comes Santa Claus

Spectrum Noir Ultrasmooth Premium white cardstock

Bazzill Mirrored cardstock – Gold

Memento Tuxedo black dye ink
MME – enamel dots
1/4″ ScorTape
Thermoweb 3D 1/4″ foam squares

Other:
Copics
white gel pen
2 pennies

~Christmas Greetings~

Christmas is sneaking up on me… or more appropriately, it’s barreling down on me like a locomotive.  It’s not like it falls on a different day/month each year.  I do a great deal of THINKING about it, then wait until it’s time to go full tilt getting things done.

For that reason, I absolutely LOVE all Kaisercraft paper pads.  You can easily make a card without stamps or dies.  This is a major plus sometimes.  I don’t know how many times I get a request for a “quick” card.  Kaisercraft to the rescue!

~*~*~

~*~*~

This year we have 3 granddaughters (ages 22 mo, 14 mo and 6 yrs) and a foster grandson, aged 14.  Now I raised four sons and was always ooohing and ahhhing over the adorable girls clothes and toys.  I can’t even imagine the $$ I’m going to be tempted to spend!

~*~*~

I used:

Stamp Simply Clear Stamps – Farmhouse Christmas

Kaisercraft 6.5 x 6.5″ – Let it Snow

 Bazzill Silver Mirrored cardstock –

Spectrum Noir Ultrasmooth Premium white cardstock

 Spellbinders – Pierced Circles

Spellbindes – Create A Flake six

~Peace on Earth~

I don’t know about you, but I am so far behind in my Christmas crafts.  Crafters may not understand how you can be behind with 44 days left until Christmas.  I have a total of THREE Christmas cards made, so far.  I need at least thirty, many of which need to be mailed out to both coasts.

Fortunately, I received some new papers over the weekend.  They are very inspiring!  I’m planning a Christmas card blitz for this coming week!

The papers I used this week from Kaisercraft (First Noel) are definitely unique!  I love the black, gold, white combo so much.

~*~*~

These papers are like the Las Vegas of paper.  Lots of foiled papers, beautiful papers.

Our challenge this week is to make a Christmas card/tag with non-traditional colors.  The call was for clean and simple.  I think I failed on that part.

~*~*~

I used:

Stamp Simply Clear Stamps – Merry Christmas

Stamp Simply Steel Dies – Merry Christmas Star

Stamp Simply Steel Dies – Fishtail Sentiment Banners
Kaisercraft 6.5. x 6.5″ – First Noel
Spectrum Noir Ultrasmooth Premium white cardstock
Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink

~Merry Christmas Tree~

I believe I’ve fallen into the ‘Halloween is over, it must be Christmas’ trap.  For the first time in longer than I can remember, I’m nearly done with my Christmas shopping.  We have 5 family birthdays in November.  I haven’t even started to think of those.

Today I really needed to do something simple.  When I think simple, I think Kaisercraft.  All the papers are gorgeous and well coordinated.  Pop a couple die cuts out and you’re just about done.

~*~*~

I really like this muted color combination.  Even though it’s green, it’s a unique.

~*~*~

~*~*~

I used:

Kaisercraft 6.5″x 6.5″ – Wonderland
Stamp Simply Steel Dies – Oh Christmas Tree

Spectrum Noir Ultrasmooth Premium white cardstock

Snow Tex
1/4″ ScorTape
Thermaweb 3D 1/4″ foam squares

~Prayer Purse~

This week, the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store designers are on a quest of anything but a standard card.  I always love when i’m challenged.  Now this project is not new to me.  I’ve made several of these little prayer purses over the last few years.  Every time I share them I get a great response.

~*~*~

To start with, I used the basic instructions of the “Bag in a Box” tutorial on Splitcoaststampers.com.   I adjust mine so that the box is 3.5″ x 1″ and 1″ deep.  From there, you’ll adjust the bag portion to follow.  Mine is 3.5′ wide by 3.5″ tall.

~*~*~

I create scripture cards for the inside (6 shown here, but big enough for 12-15), and added a journaling spot on the back of each card.  Stamp Simply Ribbon Store has a wide variety of scripture sets.

~*~*~

I did some sponging and piercing on the brown cardstock to make it look a bit leathery.  I’m in love with the Craft Consortium woodgrain paper (12 x 12 used here).

~*~*~

It’s a sturdy little purse and makes a great gift.

~Harvest Thanks~

My favorite color is red.  But the minute Autumn arrives, my favorite colors are brick red, deep orange, summer yellow, and chocolate brown.

I miss the wide array of fall colors we use to get back in New York.  Don’t get me wrong, Colorado has the beautiful yellow of the aspen trees, but not the range we’re use to viewing.

Fortunately, I have many many ink pads in that range to make my Autumn on paper.  Break out the hot apple cider and cinnamon sticks!

~*~*~

I really worked hard at making a card with a unique layout.   That seems to be the hardest part of paper crafting as of late.  I’ve been doing this for 17+ years.  Coming up with unique layouts is dang hard!

~*~*~

For this card, I used:

Stamp Simply Clear Stamps – Give Thanks

Stamp Simply Clear Stamps – Harvest

Stamp Simply Steel Dies – Harvest

Distress Inks

    – carved pumpkin

    – mustard seed

~Farmhouse Christmas~

~*~*~

The “S” word was tossed out during this morning’s weather forecast.

Let me put this straight.  I love to LOOK at the snow, but I don’t like to be out in it.  I’ve spent the last 26 years in high snow areas.  I have done my due diligence.  Now I want to be the couple that heads south for the winter.

I have been thinking about Christmas a lot.  The grandbabies are growing up and our family continues to expand.  That means my typical Christmas planning just gets more complicated and expensive!

I have done a white/gold Christmas card each year for the last 10 years.  I love the Bazzill Mirrored cardstock.

~*~*~

I used:

Stamp simply clear stamps – Farmhouse Christmas

~Enduring Love~

I get the feeling that Fall/Autumn is going to be a short-lived season this year.

To the north of us (Montanta) is already getting a lion’s share of Winter weather, just a week into Autumn.  It showed at the highest peeks here in Colorado, too.  Gladly, it’s still in the 70s, low 80s, here.

One thing that strikes me now is the deep blue skies.

~*~*~

Not my usual card, but I like it.
