~One Nation~

We owe a world of debt to those heros who have kept us safe and free.  In the past, those heros included military and police.  Now we add our first responders (i.e. medical personnel, firefighters, and emts).  I’d like to add those who have worn their mask, social distanced and shelter in place.  We are a new class of heros.

After hearing all the horror stories of friends homeschooling their kids, I have to count them as heros, too!  I homeschooled my two youngest sons for ONE year and it was a nightmare.

This card was made entirely of scraps!  I’ve been purging my studio and found a bevy of cardstock scraps.  It makes me happy to accomplish and personal challenge such as this.

~My Hero~

Showing off a new Stamp Simply Clear Stamps set ~ Patriotic.  It has a matching die set, too.  So many uses for this.  I’m working on cards for soldiers, so this will come in quite handy!

Back in the 90s, my home decor was 90% Americana.  This set brings me back to those days!

Stars & Stripes forever!

I am so mixed up on my days and even hours sometimes.  I’ve been a shut in (90%) for many years.  But now that we are required to stay in, I am just itching to get out!

We did make a quick run to see a couple of my sons and their families.  I stayed my distance and as much as it hurt, I did NOT hug my granddaughters.  That hurt.

This week I needed to whip up a birthday card for my eldest son to give to his wife on Wednesday.  Next birthday for us is not until late July.  The baby is due on the 24th!  I can’t wait!!

I used the Happy Birthday sentiment from the new Stick Family Sentiments set.  This set has EVERYTHING!

I’ve been campaigning for more images to color and I got it!  The new Stick Family sets (images/sentiments) are my new favorite.  So versatile!  And it’s all about the hair, or lack there of.  Get your creative on!

On a personal note, we were able to see a couple of our granddaughters the other day and this grammy is so much happier.  As we went to leave, I heard a tiny voice say “Grammy, I love you”.  Heart melting begins.

How about a little spring weather?  And I do mean “little”.  The hubby and I took a ride up to the reservoir this afternoon.  We enjoyed weather in the upper 60s.  Unfortunately, it was completely cloudy.  Still felt good to escape my cell from the last 5 weeks.

Today’s card is for my hubby’s boss and his wife.  They’re struggling with a health scare.  No specifics noted for their privacy.

Looks like I was in a pink mood! 🙂

It’s happened.  I’ve been cooped up for so long that I’ve started reorganizing my studio.  I will admit that I have way more than I’ll ever use/need.  Time to start donating.

This week we’re featuring our Father’s Day cards.  My hubby is 2 pot of coffee a day kind of fella.  He also enjoys hunting and fishing.

~Substitute Mom~

Mother’s day is just a month away.  Unfortunately, both my own mom and my mother in law have long passed. I’ve been luck in that my mom had six sisters.  I have substitute moms all around.  Although, at 57, I find I’m better in the role as mom.

It was a difficult Easter for us.  We haven’t seen any granddaughters since the last weekend in March!  We’re not even getting video or pics!  How dare they have lives of their own! 😀

How was your Easter?

My goal was an all white card (w/image).  This is where I ended up.  Well, it’s mostly white!

The design team was challenged to make a graduation card this week.  I like to do them in school colors, so I started gathering info on family and friends, and the schools they attend.  After a great deal of time, I came to the conclusion that I have no family/friends/etc that are graduating in the next couple years!  Normally, there would be several.  I guess that means I’m getting old(er).

So, as a typical me move, I went with a color scheme that I liked.  This one is flat (enough), for mailing.  It’s also super simple.

~*~*~

~*~*~

I used:

Stamp Simply Clear Stamps – Graduation sentiments
Memento Tuxedo black dye ink
Cheery Lynn Designs – Grad die set
Melissa Frances – Pearls/cream. Colored black with copic marker
Doilies 4″
1/4″ ScorTape

other:
cool pool cardstock
black cardstock

I like my coffee like my faith….STRONG.

Anyone else ready to get our lives back to normal?  My hubby told me today that he’s bored.  He’s not even laid off!  He is accustomed to do the running around on the weekend.  I bribed him with a trip to Home Depot, but he declined.

So the challenge this week is to make a CAS faith card.  I really have an impossible time with CAS.

~**~**~

The die cuts were cut three times.  First on the sponged layer, then twice in white.  I glued and stacked them together to give the appearance of being “lifted”.

Echo Park – 6 x 6 – Coffee
Spectrum Noir Ultrasmooth Premium White cardstock
Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink
Tim Holtz – distress ink – tumbled glass

I hope this finds all well.  My OCD is raging as I can’t stop watching the news.  I know it’s the last thing I SHOULD watch.

So, I thought about my plan to make 2000 cards for the troops.  This may just be one of the first ones.  I have a few more designed so far.

Looks like I’ll be spending lots of extra time in the studio since there’s not much else to do.

~*~*~

For the middle panel, I did diagonal red/blue stripes.  I like the amount of white here.  Makes it fresh!

~*~*~

I used:

Stamp Simply Clear Stamps – Patriotic Sentiments

Echo Park – America the Beautiful
Spectrum Noir Ultrasmooth premium white cardstock
Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad – Chipped Sapphire

Baker’s twine – blueberry/white

Thermaweb 3D 1/4″ foam squares
