~Hello, Sweet Friend~

I have something different to share with you today.  Let’s back up a bit.  My 5 yr old granddaughter loves unicorns and mermaids.  Of course!  What little girl doesn’t, right?

So I went on an exhausting search (hello Pinterest!) looking for a way to create a unicorn using my Stamp Simply Clear Stamps.  And wouldn’t you know, the new cluster stamps are perfect!

But, wouldn’t you know… I had to brush off my drawing skills (barely a skill) and draw the horn (which I cut out), the ears and the eyes.

~*~*~

***EDIT to add:  I meant to touch on the items that were hand drawn.  I thin the eyes and ears are pretty self-explanatory.  For the horn, I drew a cone-like shape that is approximately 1″ wide and comes to a point at the top.  The horn is approximately 3″ long.  I added the stripes and colored it with gold gel pen and some glitter glue.

I added a little glitter glue to the center flower and the horn

I love plaid.  Any color, any pattern (i.e. Tartan plaid), single color, multi-color… I love plaid.  I recently received a quite large stash of new papers and there is plaid everywhere!  I’m a happy girl.

So we’re going to ease into fall/Halloween/thanksgiving themed cards.  I promise to hold off at least a month for Christmas cards… teehee.

This week we’re going to celebrate the harvest.  Where I live, there is quite a bit of agriculture to the East and snowy mountain tops to the West… so, lots of inspiration!

Now that’s some scrumptious plaid!

Happy Monday!  I’m going to keep saying that until it becomes true.  I generally struggle on Mondays as that’s when hubby goes back to work and I know I’ll be facing the week alone.  I sometimes get physically ill thinking about it.

This new pad of paper (Forward with Faith) from Echo Park is a new favorite.  Lots of coordinating papers in my favorite colors!

This was one of those cards where I created all the elements and then struggled to put them together to my liking.  I gave it to God.  I took a deep breath and just let it be.

Is it me, or are the days flying by like a UFO?  Not just the days, but the years, too.  We celebrated my #1 son’s 36th birthday this weekend.  I find it impossible to acknowledge that I have a 36 yr old.  I’m only 37!  Well, that’s how I feel (mentally), anyway.

It has been incredibly hot and humid (unusually so for Colorado), these past couple weeks.  Normally I would lock myself in my AC’d apartment, but we’ve had more outdoor activities than usual.  The heat sucks my energy dry in short order.  I can’t wait for Autumn!

This week’s card is good for either “Thinking of You” or a sympathy card.

I’m totally in love with the Kaisercraft Greenhouse paper pad.  It has the prettiest succulents and so soft colors.

~Sunflower Season~

Happy Monday!  Is that even a thing?

It was certainly a great weekend for us!  We had our granddaughter, Kaleo, with us.  An 18 month old definitely requires the full attention of TWO adults.  This kid is a one girl show.  I have a sore face from smiling so much!

Since it was a spur of the moment babysitting gig, I didn’t get my card done until Sunday afternoon.  I had to go super simple, but I’m liking it anyway!

My panels (creamy yellow, chocolate, and rust) are stamped and embossed together then cut apart to create a triptych type card.

A couple of days ago, one of the postings on the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store’s facebook page was a shaker card I made awhile back.  I have made maybe 5 shaker cards in the 15+ years that I’ve been paper crafting.  I took it as a challenge!

My hubby has been on vacation (staycation actually) for the better part of the last two weeks.  I stayed out of my studio most of that time so I could spend time with him.  When I sat down at my desk a couple days ago, I drew a great big blank.  Then I picked up my coffee….

~*~*~

I am in LOVE with the woodgrain paper.  And did I mention that the card smells sooooooo good!

~Little Note~

This will be the last of the cluster cards for awhile.  I’ve just had so much fun using them and I’ve barely scratched the surface of what type of card they will make.  By far the most versatile stamps I’ve ever used.

I’ve been sick these past few days.  Fortunately I have a very attentive husband.  He’s been fishing in the early mornings and doing the shopping and cleaning in the afternoons.  He’s been cooking, too!  I feel like I’m perking up, so it will be my turn to make him know how appreciative I am!

This was one of those times where I picked out my paper and then matched my flowers to the paper.  The flowers in this picture look way more orange than they really are.

~Summer Roses~

I have a confession to make.  In my early days of stamping, floral images gave me anxiety.  I knew a very few proper colors for flowers.  It took me years to come to the conclusion that you can color them any color you please!  Now, coloring flowers is one of my favorite things to do.

I’m still playing with these new floral cluster sets.  There is just so much you can do with them!

~*~*~

I let the paper drive the color combination on this one.

~*~*~

I still have another card from this set coming up next week.  Make sure you come back! 🙂

~Color Your World~

As much as I am in love with the new four seasons Floral Cluster sets, I am equally enamored with this new (to me) Graphic 45 Kaleidoscope paper.  It just screams my name.  It has brilliant colors, beautiful patterns and ELEPHANTS!

For this card, I cut out a couple of the main flowers to decorate my amazing elephant and baby.  The black base color on these papers is right up my alley.

~*~*~

I’ll admit, I didn’t want to cut out the elephants on the beautiful page, so I cut my elephants from the cover of the paper pad.

I used:

Stamp Simple Clear Stamps – Floral Clusters Fall Flowers

Graphic 45 – 8×8 – Kaleidoscope

It really shows you how versatile these stamp sets can be!

~Christmas in June~

My second offering from the new 4 seasons Clusters sets.  I’m loving this next cluster (winter poinsettia).  I’m still just giddy over this whole release and the ONE die that cuts out all 4 clusters.  That’s simply SMART.  We all love to have dies for our images, so this is a huge savings.

When the Christmas crafting supplies start hitting the stores, around October, a good percentage of shoppers are generally put off at how early it happens.  I’m NOT in that group.  When you make dozens of cards, gifts, etc., it’s nice to be able to start early.

~*~*~

~*~*~

I gush over the images in these new sets, but it should be noted that there are tons of sentiments, too!

~*~*~

I used:

Stamp Simply Clear Stamps – Winter Poinsettia

Authentique – Nostalgia
Spectrum Noir Ultrasmooth Premium white cardstock
