~Harvest Thanks~

My favorite color is red.  But the minute Autumn arrives, my favorite colors are brick red, deep orange, summer yellow, and chocolate brown.

I miss the wide array of fall colors we use to get back in New York.  Don’t get me wrong, Colorado has the beautiful yellow of the aspen trees, but not the range we’re use to viewing.

Fortunately, I have many many ink pads in that range to make my Autumn on paper.  Break out the hot apple cider and cinnamon sticks!

~*~*~

I really worked hard at making a card with a unique layout.   That seems to be the hardest part of paper crafting as of late.  I’ve been doing this for 17+ years.  Coming up with unique layouts is dang hard!

~*~*~

For this card, I used:

Stamp Simply Clear Stamps – Give Thanks

Stamp Simply Clear Stamps – Harvest

Stamp Simply Steel Dies – Harvest

Distress Inks

    –  antique photo

    – aged mahogany

    – carved pumpkin

    – mustard seed

Enamel Dots

~Farmhouse Christmas~

~*~*~

The “S” word was tossed out during this morning’s weather forecast.

Let me put this straight.  I love to LOOK at the snow, but I don’t like to be out in it.  I’ve spent the last 26 years in high snow areas.  I have done my due diligence.  Now I want to be the couple that heads south for the winter.

I have been thinking about Christmas a lot.  The grandbabies are growing up and our family continues to expand.  That means my typical Christmas planning just gets more complicated and expensive!

I have done a white/gold Christmas card each year for the last 10 years.  I love the Bazzill Mirrored cardstock.

~Enduring Love~

I get the feeling that Fall/Autumn is going to be a short-lived season this year.

To the north of us (Montanta) is already getting a lion’s share of Winter weather, just a week into Autumn.  It showed at the highest peeks here in Colorado, too.  Gladly, it’s still in the 70s, low 80s, here.

One thing that strikes me now is the deep blue skies.

~*~*~

Not my usual card, but I like it.

~National Coffee Day~

It’s National Coffee Day!!

You can bet I’m drinking my coffee right this minute.  Normally, I would have my coffee on the patio watching the sunrise.  My favorite way to start a day.

I have a confession to make.  Up until a couple weeks ago, I had never had a Pumpkin Spice Latte.  No, seriously.  Then one day my hubby strolled in and handed me a PSL from Starbucks.  It smelled so so good.  I took my first sip.  Then another.  And you, know what?  I wasn’t a fan.  I almost felt guilty.  A couple days later I had a coffee date with a friend and had a Pumpkin Spice Frappe.  It was awesome!

But, on a regular day, give me my Donut House dark roast Kcups.  That’s where my heart (and taste buds, lie).

~*~*~

I’ve actually had this card rolling around in my head for some time now.  So, I think it’s darn near perfect for the occasion.

The Birch in Fall

Welcome to Fall, Ya’ll!

Fall is leaps and bounds above all other season, in my opinion.  I love the cool crisp mornings, the warm breezy days and the colors all around.  I also love sleeping with at least a small blanket and a fan on low.  I don’t even mind the fall snow…. as long as I don’t have to drive in it!

This week, I played around with the Tim Holtz Birch stencil.  I used six different inks in fall colors.

~*~*~

I used watercolor paper for this.  I like the texture it adds.

~Fall Tag Trio~

We’re all about tags this week!

I love making tags.  I should do more.  They make great presentation for a gift or they can be the gift itself.  On my tags this week, I included a slot in the back for a gift card.

Our family has 9 birthdays and 1 Anniversary this month, so a couple of these will find themselves around the neck of a bottle of wine, or such.  A nice way to say thanks, me thinks!

~*~*~

And to make me just a little more happy, there’s all this plaid!  I am surely a sucker for plaid.  Add it to fall colors and I swoon!

Welcome to Release Week!  This release revolves around the Fruit of the Spirit.  Three wonderful sets that have many uses!  And the colorist in me is just giddy!

As you may know, Bible Journaling is big.  I do a little here and there, but I’m a Bible purist and have no desire to cover scripture.  I do like the idea of tip ins and staying within the area provided.

For the journal page, I stamped the fruit of the spirit sentiment stamp several times and added the fruit on top.

~*~*~

And I didn’t stop there!  I always need bookmarks, so I whipped one up here:

Oh, yes we did!  Christmas cards in September.  It has been in the upper 90s this holiday weekend, so much irony.

Each year I make a Christmas card in non-traditional colors.  I’ve been doing this for over 10 years, so I struggled to find a color for this year’s card.  Green is a traditional color, but this AQUA.  I like it!

We have some exciting things coming next week!  Make sure you check back next Monday… right here 🙂

~*~*~

So, this one is super simple.  I’m getting much better at the quick cards.

~Grateful Heart~

Right now, I can definitely say I have a grateful heart.  I woke up Friday morning with my entire left side of my face swollen and red.  I did the ice/heat thing for the better part of the day and it just got worse.  Ended up in the Urgent Care on Saturday morning.  Now I’m on antibiotics and just now starting to feel human again.

The bad part was that I had not started my card for this post.  I ended up in the studio at 1am on Sunday struggling to get this done while my left eye was nearly swollen closed.  But I managed!

~*~*~

I generally struggle with mostly white cards, but I’m liking this with it’s dimension.

~Hello, Sweet Friend~

I have something different to share with you today.  Let’s back up a bit.  My 5 yr old granddaughter loves unicorns and mermaids.  Of course!  What little girl doesn’t, right?

So I went on an exhausting search (hello Pinterest!) looking for a way to create a unicorn using my Stamp Simply Clear Stamps.  And wouldn’t you know, the new cluster stamps are perfect!

But, wouldn’t you know… I had to brush off my drawing skills (barely a skill) and draw the horn (which I cut out), the ears and the eyes.

~*~*~

***EDIT to add:  I meant to touch on the items that were hand drawn.  I thin the eyes and ears are pretty self-explanatory.  For the horn, I drew a cone-like shape that is approximately 1″ wide and comes to a point at the top.  The horn is approximately 3″ long.  I added the stripes and colored it with gold gel pen and some glitter glue.

I added a little glitter glue to the center flower and the horn
