~ News Worthy ~

Hi Friends!

Because of the vast expansion of the technology age, especially in the last ten years, I have a unique dynamic in my household.   While my oldest son (aged 28) still remembers cassette tapes and the original Nintendo system; my youngest (just 16) grew up with ipods and Xbox.

My husband and I talk to them about the days not too long ago when you had to actually get up and change the channel on the TV, you had to stand near the phone to talk because of the cord and only rich people owned microwaves.   My mother got her first microwave when I was in middle school!

Now, sadly, the newspaper that use to arrive on our doorsteps every morning is falling by the wayside.   Just this week the New York Times announced that it would start charging it’s online readers to access the news.   I’m guessing this has something to do with the drastic drop in subscribers to the actual paper.   Is this a good thing or bad?  While I am going to be sad if the newspaper that we know of goes away completely, I’m guilty of being one that reads my news online.

This week we are going to honor the newspaper in our Technique Lovers Challenge.   The challenge is to use newspaper in your project.   You can use it to make a die cut flower.  You can use it to paper piece.   You can use it any way you like (yeah, it’s kind of like a “ways to use it” challenge, but I wanted to honor our newspapers).

I actually did a little pleating action with my newspaper.   Then I sponged it up real good to make it look old.

Here are my deets:

Stamps:  There She Goes’ Day or Night

Colors: Kraft, GP White, Newspaper

Ink: Tim Holtz’ distressing ink (Tea Bag) , Memento Tuxedo Black, copics

Accessories: Jute, star punch, corner rounder punch, sponge, dimensionals, sticky tape.

Thanks much for stopping by!   If you get a chance, stop over to the Challenge forums on SCS and join in our challenge!

Hugs!
