Hi Friends 🙂

Well, today is going to be an interesting day.   My oldest son, Joshua, has been dating a girl for over a year now and today we are finally going to meet her and her little boy, Christopher.   There are many reasons that we have not met until now, but the important thing is that today we’re going to have a new beginning.

Joshua told me to expect Christopher to be shy at first.   I can understand that.   He is three years old and he’s never been around too many people besides his mom, grandparents, Joshua and his dad.   He’s going to come into our house and be surrounded by HUGE teenage boys.   That will definitely be intimidating!

To make the transition a little easier for him, I decided to make him a little welcome present.

I cut two of the largest Label 8 nesties shapes from the backing of some designer paper.   It’s nice and sturdy and should hold up well to a three year old.   Then I cut two more of the same size out of some Abbey Road DP.   Next, I cut the 2nd largest Label 8 out of some Really Rust DP and cut that in 1/2.   For the box itself, I cut two pieces of the backing (it’s nearly as heavy as chipboard) to measure 8 1/4″ x 4 3/4″.   On one of those pieces, I shaved just a bit off of one short side and one long side (This helps to make them fit snugly together when assembling.   On the 8 1/4″ x 4 3/4″ pieces, I scored at 1 3/4″ on both the short sides and one long side.   See below for visual.

I then attached the DP to the backing (Label 8 cut) pieces and adhered them to the box, front and back.   Then I decorated.

The box is stuffed with crayons, a juice box, fruit snacks, a matchbox car and some images I printed for him to color.   That should keep him happy for awhile :).

What a fabulous idea, Holly, and so thoughtful 😀 I’m sure little Christopher will open up wonderfully with all perfect little boy toys in there for him to play with and settle into your home with. I loved 3 – 5, despite their never ending energy at that age. They are so precious and the world is just opening up to them. Lucky for him to have so much love poured into him on this visit. Have a fabulous day with him and can’t wait to hear how it goes 😀
