Good morning!

I am going to take a walk down memory lane again.    When I was about 8 years old, we lived in Spaulding, Illinois.   Spaulding was a tiny little town on the outskirts of Springfield, along the Sangamon River.   We had moved their from California to be near my father’s family.  My paternal grandfather lived with us.   He was a quiet man, who drank too much and did weird things.

I remember one day, my brothers and I and the neighborhood kids were jumping on a neighbors trampoline when my grandfather (the man of few words) screamed out at us, “Cellar, NOW!”.   None of us had noticed the blackening skies.   I remember being in the cellar for a few minutes when we heard what sounded like a freight train in the distance.   Tornado.   It didn’t come near our house, but it was enough to leave quite an impression on this girl.

Well, yesterday was a day like that here in Eastern Colorado.   The boys and I listened to the news and watched the skies as they grew darker and darker.   A small tornado touched down in Greeley, just a few miles from our house.   It dropped 2″ hail that left the landscape looking like winter.   It is a lesson in humility when Mother Nature unleashes her fury.

Ok, so on to stamping.    I really loved this morning’s sketch challenge.   So much potential!   I actually have an idea for another one (flipped), but will have to wait on that as we are heading out to ‘meet’ my youngest son’s girlfriend for coffee at Starbucks.

This one is pretty simple and to the point.   I made it for my young nephew, so I kept off the ‘girly’ stuff, but did add a hodgepodge buckle.   Making cards for young boys is such a challenge!

I used to have nightmares about tornados all the time when I lived in North Dakota. Those things are so unpredictable and scary! Luckily I have never had to experience one but have been close enough for my own good lol! Have I mentioned how much I love WA?? We never have to worry about them 😉

    Great cards girl!!
