IC158 ~ God’s Way ~
December 13th, 2008 by Holly McMillen
Remember Wolfman Jack? I grew up in California in the 70s and the wolfman was very popular. Everytime I make a blog post at 3am in the morning, I feel like the wolfman Jack of blogging. I type as quiet as I can (not to wake dh who is asleep next to me).. I even stamp quiet… so as not to wake the entire house. Do you have any idea how loud a scallop punch or embossing gun can be at 3am? 🙂
I named this card “God’s Way” for a couple of reasons.. first, the stamp set used (sentiment) and also for the way it came about. I woke at 1am and started looking at the IC for today. I first went to the Block Party Press websites (Flickr and Etsy). Feeling inspired by alot of what I saw, but not quite ready to create, I went to her blog. After 30 some odd minutes of reading and perusing, I found this post. The funny part was that the picture that inspired me the most was done by a lady name Michelle from Cicada Home. At first I felt a little weird about it, but then I remembered the IC is about being inspired. Not about whom inspires you.
I gotta tell ya, I am lovin’ the nesties. I purchased my first set through Ellen Hutson’s store (the Pinked ones). I loved those so much I went and bought a second set at Hobby Lobby (40% off!), this time the ovals. I love the beveled effect of the cuts. I will definitely be adding more of these to my collection. *hint to my santa!*
Here are the deets on my card:
Stamps: Embrace Life and God’s Way
Colors: Basic Black, Kiwi Kiss, GP white
Ink: Versamark, white prisma pencil
Accessories: ribbon, nesties, oval punch, embossing folder, photo corner punch, dimensionals

Ok, putting myself out there…… HERE IS THE NEW ME!
I spent the morning at the salon getting my hair cut and being pampered. I came home and colored the new do. What do you think?!

~Dreams in a Box~
Ok, so I had a minute to waste this afternoon and was doing some blog hopping. I came across this little box at Mocha Memories. I love her box, but decided I wanted to do it a little different, so I made these minor adjustments. Instead of making it one continuous piece, I made it in two pieces so that it comes completely apart. I give the owner of Mocha Memories full credit for the idea 🙂 , but you know me, I’m going to mess with it and make it my own.
Here it is apart:
It measures 21/2 inches square on the inside. I will be back in a bit with further instructions….
TFL and have a peaceful Saturday!
Lovely card, Holly! Like how you used the Kiwi for the oval and then coloured the flowers white. The sentiment is wonderful too.
I’m still w/o nesties 🙁 Hopefully next year if all goes well. You’ve done a great job with them here.
Made me laugh with your wolfman Jack comment. I remember him in the 70’s as well — think we’re dating ourselves here LOL! Have a great day.
Love the card Holly! I love a bit of black to really make a card POP!
WELCOME to the world of NESTIES!!!! WOOHOO!!!! I love my nesties and just HAD to have them (and believe me they are more expensive here in Oz!)
Your new DO looks great and I’m sure you felt a million dollars after all that pampering!!
New doo frames your face wonderfully 🙂 Part I love best when I get my hair cut is the scalp massage aaaaahhhh – makes me want to have one right now lol 🙂 Fun little box you made too.
