~ There She Goes August Hop Day 1 ~
August 25th, 2009 by Holly McMillen
Good morning, Friends!
With the start of this school year, I now have two high schoolers. This is a first for me. I have more testosterone than ever flowing through this house and if the TV isn’t on hunting or fishing (DH), then it’s on some teen based show or a sport. Now, I DO thank God he didn’t give me girls ~ as two teenage daughters would be pure H E double hockey sticks, but I am really missing my ”babies”!
I miss the days of sippy cups and legos. I miss the days of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with the crust cut off. I miss the magic of believing in Santa and the Tooth Fairy.
When I received my new There She Goes sets this month, I swooned. It took me about 30 seconds to come to this idea. A tooth fairy box. Now, I know it is tradition to put the tooth under a pillow, but if you are like me, that always posed a problem. How do you get that pesky tooth out without waking the sleeping kiddo? No problem here. Simply slip the tooth into the box and set it on her nightstand. While little susie snoozie is sleeping, you pluck the tooth out and replace it with……….. what’s the going rate for toddler teeth these day, anyway? 🙂
I drew the tooth on white cardstock, based on the tooth shape in the set. I cut it out and traced it on the backing of a paper pad (twice). I covered them with white cardstock on one side and dp on the other. I used the origami box pattern seen here ( origami-box_diagram.pdf ) to make the inside box. The little pillow inside is a piece of foam covered in fabric. The top of the box is coated with glossy glaze (tooth enamel!).
Here are my deets:
Stamps: There She Goes‘ Fairy Good Day
Colors: GP White, Pixie Pink, dp by Paper Studio
Ink: Versafine Black Onyx, copics
Accessories: pink 1/2 pearls, ribbon, ribbon slide punch, eyelet border punch, glossy glaze, stickles, dimensionals, sticky tape, xacto knife, Alene’s tacky glue

This post made me laugh out loud. Having 2 girls (one in the stage of getting teeth, the other just starting to lose them), I am glad (for now) that I don’t have boys – my nephew scares the devil out of me! I’m sure in a few years I will be wishing they *were* boys – ha!ha! Great project – sure beats the glittery blue box my older daughter has at the moment.
I’m thinking I will need one of the tooth holders someday for DGD. TOoo Cute Holly!
