Hi Friends!

If it’s Saturday, then it must be time for another Ribbon Inspiration post!  This week we’re focusing on Spring.  If you’ve arrived here from Deb Saaranen’s blog, then you’re in the right spot.  If not, I suggest you start back on Sharon Johnson’s blog in order to find out how you can be eligible for today’s blog prize.

This week we’re focusing on checks/gingham.   Gingham can be very casual or it can be super formal.   Gingham also reminds me of my childhood.   My mom use to make me these little shift dresses out of plain colors and then make a gingham apron to go over it.   I loved those dresses!

Here’s my offering today:

I really had a difficult time getting the colors on this to represent themselves properly in a photo.   The check background is actually a mossy green, but looks a bit blue here.   And… I actually sewed zig zags!!  That’s a first for me!  I’m slowly but surely becoming less intimidated by my sewing machine.

Here are my details:

Stamps:  JustRite Stampers’ Topsy Turvy Cakes

Paper: Vanilla, Shimmer Vanilla (base), My Mind’s Eye – Be Happy (checks), My Mind’s Eye – Paris & Co. (solid mossy green), Kaisercraft Utopia (green dot)

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, copics

Accessories: 7/8″ gingham (green/ivory), oval nestabilities, stardust stickles, sewing machine, Kaisercraft split pea rhinestones, dimensionals

Everything is coming back! Isn’t funny how we all remember having gingham something when we were younger. Your cake is retro to me and the dots and gingham checks I think go perfectly with it. Love the dark green gingham ribbon, makes the other colors pop!
