~ It’s Hard to Find Good Help ~

Hi Friends!
After several days of listening to the roofers *bang bang bang* the day away, I finally had some peace and quiet this afternoon to get some crafting done.
It was not without obstacles, though. My project for this week’s Technique Lover’s Challenge (to decorate a (gift) bag, incorporated some items that were just too tempting to my 3 1/2 month old baby, Samson (kitten).
First I’ll show you what I made:….
You will notice that his head and body are a bit squashed. Before I attached the hat, I left it sitting on my desk while I started dinner. During those few minutes, Samson decided he had to inspect my handywork. Now, I guess it is fair since I put a bunch of his favorite treats in the bottom portion and one of his favorite toys in the top. He was not happy! He crunched the head with his paws and tried desperately to bite through the body with his razor sharp teeth. Unfortunately, by the time I came back and found him gnawing on the ribbon, it was really too late for me to redo my project. So here it is…. kitty spit, claw marks and all.
Now, let’s back up a bit and I’ll tell you how I did it….
I had in my stash of useful things, these small sacks. They’re about 3 1/2″ wide by 7″ tall. Borrowing from my Snowman that I did a few days ago… see HERE… I decided to make a Santa Kitty, with treats for our four legged fur friends.
I first die cut two shapes into the bag (one near the bottom and the other near the top). I adhered acetate to the inside of the bag to cover the cuts. I filled the bottom with Samson’s favorite Pounce treats and then tied a string around the middle nice and tight. Then I placed the jingle ball into the top and tied the top of the bag together with jute as tight as I could. The decorations were just a few snips of paper here and there and voila!

Ink: Versafine Black Onyx, white gel pen
Accessories: 1″ tartan plaid ribbon, Label Ten nestabilities, 1/8″ hole punch, oval punch, small bell, medium scalloped punch (for feet), red/white twine, sticky tape, glue gun.

This is too cute, Holly! Love it – Samson touches and all LOL!! Figured it was Samson right away. You’ll appreciate this story 🙂 Hubby before we got married was working in Dallas. His boss had two HUGE maincoon cats. I found the cutest little catnip ornaments – one in the shape of a stocking the the other in the shape of a candy cane.
Not having a cat back then, I didn’t realize the HUGE draw of the catnip. I sent them in the inter office courier to hubby to give to his boss, who promptly tossed them under the tree the next day and left for work. Well….needless to say, hubby called me and demanded I tell him what I sent his boss. His two cats had tipped the tree over and ramsacked the presents under it looking for the catnip.
Oh my goodness Holly! this kitty is SO cute – can’t really tell that it had been attacked either!!!
