~Creating with Purpose~

Hello friends 🙂

My post title might be a little deceiving, but I thought it was appropriate for what I’m going to say.   I stamp a lot.   I make birthday cards and Christmas cards… and just about any kind of card that I may need.   Sometimes I even make cards on special request… such and such colors with flowers or whatever.   Every so often I’m called to make a card for a purpose that I struggle with.   That’s today’s card.

About ten days ago, I came across THIS thread on Splitcoaststampers.com.   I followed the link to Katie’s blog and started reading her posts.   My heart broke.   She’s not the first person who I have come across that is battling cancer, obviously.   What broke my heart was her struggle with her belief system and faith.   Now I want to clarify.   I am pretty positive that most people faced with their mortality would have the same struggles, even if they were a lifetime Christian.   What struck me was her honesty.   I have always professed that no matter what, I will remain true to my beliefs and nothing can shake me, even death.   After reading Katie’s words, I started to shake.   Would that really be the case?   I’m no longer sure.

Our Miss Cindy (Mothermark) put out the call for the “Teapotters” to make cards for Katie today.   I always want to play along, but Tuesday is generally a crazy day.   Today I put all that aside and stamped for a purpose….. Katie.      Here was our inspiration today:

The flowers put me in mind of a garden.    My mind started going and the words “There’s a cross in my garden, and this is what it grows…….. Faith, Hope.. Love”. So, I ran with that and this is what I came up with:

The inside reads:

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. – 1 Corinthians 13:13

I computer generated  the sentiment and the FAITH LOVE HOPE   I created the cross with two pieces of cardstock glued together, then I embossed it in gold.   The garden pieces are masked from images out of There She Goes’ Beautiful Spring set.

I used Cherry Cobbler, Melon Mambo, GP White and Pretty in Pink to cover the Color Combo Challenge for today as well.

I don’t think this is my prettiest card, but it certainly means a great deal to me.   Bless you, Katie.

While I’m sharing…. I made this yesterday for this week’s There She Goes’ blog challenge (to use Black, Red, Pink and Gray)

Made with There She Goes’ Sweat Pea set.   I think I’ve just about used up my Cherry Cobbler paper.   Time to reorder as that is my favorite red ever!

Thanks for stopping by!   I hope you enjoyed your visit 🙂

Hugs!

Holly, what a wonderful card. I am sure that Katie will be blessed by it. My kids and I have been praying for Katie everynight since we read the news a couple of weeks ago. Made and sent one card already. Need to make another for the teaparty.

I picked up the exact same thing when I read that story. Broke my heart and I pray she can realize the depth of God’s love for her and allow Him to fill her life with his saving grace, peace and strength. Broke my heart to see how young her kids are too… Blessings to you for sending her this wonderful card.

Just LOVE that sweet pea image and you have done a fabo job with the colour combo and card!

I popped over to check out your blog – your work is totally outstanding – and came across this beautiful card for Katie. I am not religious but your card really moved me. What a beautiful card to send to Katie and I am SURE SHE WILL LOVE IT! I am so thrilled to be part of the stamping community that is sharing our support and love with Katie!! I am sure she isn’t the first (nor the last) stamper to get this terrible disease, but it is the first time I have seen such support given. That alone will be a strength for Katie (and her family) to rely on…
