~ On Prayer…. ~

Hi Friends 🙂

I have so many people in my life that need prayer right now.   A friend with a sick child.   A family member in crisis.   Another family member battling the effects of aging.  And yet another who is battling cancer.   These are just a very few of the people that are in need of prayer.   I have a confession to make, though.   I am not as good at prayer as I’d like to be.   I once considered myself a prayer warrior.   Now, I have a tendency to throw up a “HELP!” (picture the bat sign in the sky for batman), more often than saying an earnest heartfelt prayer.

Last evening I made this card for the Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge:

It was real late when I finished.   I just uploaded it to SCS and went to bed.   I didn’t go to sleep though.   I keep thinking about the sentiment.   I prayed.

When I woke up this morning, I had prayer on my mind again.   I thought that the best way for me to work through this issue would be to create something based on prayer.

So I thought of prayer cards.   I use to have a little book that listed prayers according to need.   It was really neat because I have a hard time saying a prayer without my mind wandering, so to have the prayer already written was cool.

So I got to work and came up with this:

I call it a prayer purse.  Here’s what’s inside:

There are six little cards (they measure 2 3/4″ square) and each card has a prayer on it according to need.  The prayers are for: Guidance, Healing, Patience, Protection, Strength and Sympathy.

Here’s a close up:

I only did six, but the bag will actually hold about 10 as they’re flat.

I created the bag using the Box in a Bag.   Instead of making it tall, I cut it down so that it’s only about 3 1/2″ tall.  The base is 2 3/4″ wide by 3/4″ deep.   It’s the perfect size to use those 8″ x 8″ designer papers!

Here’s the entire set:

Here are my deets:

Stamps:  Verve Plain Janes from Stamp Simply Ribbon Store

Colors: GP White, GCD designs papers, Charcoal Gray

Ink: Versafine Black Onyx, Tim Holtz tea bag distressing Ink, copics (B0000 and B001)

Accessories: 1/4″ white silk ribbon from Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, Mini Prima Rose from Stamp Simply, Say it with Pearls (Prima Marketing), ek success border punch, sponge, dimensionals, hodgepodge hardware buckles and findings, sticky tape, scoring blade

I relate so much on the subject of prayer. My intentions are always so good but my mind does tend to wander. This is simply inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful work. I have a few people in my life that could use a gift of prayer and think I may try to make this for them. Thank you again
