Hello friends!

Welcome to the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store Design Team’s June hop!   This month our theme is “The Sweet Smells of Summer“.   If you’ve arrived here from  Deborah Saaranen’s blog, then you are in the right spot!   If not, I suggest you start back at Sharon’s Stamp Simply Ribbon Store blog so that you don’t miss anything!

When we were discussing what theme we should use for this month, my suggestion was Americana.   When I think of summer, the things that come to mind are July 4th, picnics, BBQs and family reunions.   I was thinking Americana would work for any of those.  Well, the other day, my aunt and I were talking about how my mom would drag us all out to Watsonville (in CA) each summer to pick  strawberries for preserves.   My mom’s preserves were famous.   Not because they were “smuckerlike”, but because they always tended to be a little runny.   They were absolutely perfect for putting on fresh hot waffles!

So, for today’s project, I created a basket of strawberries.   They are fresh picked and ready to can! 🙂  Can you smell them?

 ssrs-sweet-smells-of-summer-set.jpg

The strawberry pattern came from Sherry Brickey at Paperscrapz.   You can find it HERE.

 ssrs-sweet-smells-of-summer-card.jpg

The basket is woven with 1/4″ pieces of Garden Green card stock.   I scored them on one end to secure them to the basket bottom I created.   Alternating from one side to the other, I created the vertical slats first.   Then I used a piece of Garden Green cardstock cut at 1″ to wrap around the top to secure the top of the slats.   lastly, I cut 1/4″ x 12″ pieces to weave around the horizontal way.   It was a bit tricky, but after the pieces are all together, you can make adjustments until it looks right.

 ssrs-sweet-smells-of-summer-basket.jpg

For my card, I created two strawberries using the small oval punch.   Each strawberry is three punched ovals adhered at the tips then snipped off at the top.   I freehand cut the strawberry leaves and vines.

Here are my deets:

Stamps:  Just Rite’s Seeds of Kindness (medallion on basket); Just Rite’s Friendship set (sentiment ring on card) ~ both from Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

Colors: GP White, Garden Green, Real Red,  Pink Paislee 365 degrees dp

Ok, now for some fun stuff!    One lucky hopper is going to win the new Cappella Kit that is shown above.    How we do this is… after the cut off time (see Sharon’s blog), a random number is chosen that corresponds to one of the blogs in the hop.   Then another number is chosen based on the comments on that blog, to determine the winner.    So, though it’s not required, you’re best served to comment on all the blogs to increase your chances of winning this awesome candy!

~AND~

Sharon is offering 20% off of all JustRite products in her store HERE.  The sale runs thru Monday June 14th at 8am.  You can e-mail your orders to Sharon at [email protected]
