~ Gifts From The Sea ~ Gift set ~
April 24th, 2010 by Holly McMillen
Happy Saturday, Friends!
I have been waiting patiently for the sun to shine here so that I could take a decent picture. We’ve had some wild weather go through here the last couple of days. First we were under a Tornado watch…. which, thankfully, never happened. Then we were under a Winter Storm Warning….which, thankfully, never happened either! 🙂
I am totally enamored with Melanie Muenchinger’s new Gifts From The Sea set from Gina K. Designs. Every time I stamp an image, I am taken back to my beach days. Ahhhh, those were the days…..when I could actually wear a bathing suit in public and not be horrified! LOL
For the set, I made a little scene in a jar. I used actual sand! First I layered in the white, then the dark blue. I took a piece of acetate and cut it so that it would fit inside the jar and prevent the light blue sand from covering the sun. The sun is adhered to the acetate.
My card is layered with dimensionals. Layer one is the light blue. I sponged on white craft ink to simulate clouds. Then I attached the sun, which is made from the pinked nesties and a circle punch. Then the navy layer is embossed with the cuttlebug waves folder. Finally, the kraft layer, which is my “sand”, has the netting and embellishments and the sentiment stamped directly on it in chocolate chip ink.
Here are my deets:
Stamps: Gina K. Designs’ Gifts From the Sea (illustrated by Melanie Muenchinger)
Colors: Bashful Blue, Only Orange, Night of Navy and Kraft
Ink: Versafine black onyx, copics, Chocolate chip, white craft ink
Accessories: netting type ribbon, rotary cutter, waves embossing folder, circle punch, pinked nesties, sponge, colored sand, acetate, jar, word window punch, small circle punch, jute.

These are FABULOUS, Holly! Great colours and beach scenes 😀 I’m still trying to warm up from watching my son’s soccer game today – it was windy and COLD! Thank for the giggle about bathing suits LOL! How true! Glad the weather didn’t come through and hopefully some sunshine is on the way for you.
