Toy's Haven

Hi Friends,

I grew up with two older brothers.   I also had an uncle who was just a few months older than my oldest brother and he was present in my life, quite a bit.   It goes without saying that I was tormented and tortured in their boyish ways.   My brothers and uncle will tell you that I was no sissy, though.   I fought back!   One of them ended up with my baton wrapped around his head, while another got a Kool-Aid filled canteen upside the noggin.   They were quite brutal, though.   At one time they had me nearly hung from an Apricot tree with the little red wagon just about to be pulled from under my feet.  Thank God my aunt Laura came to the rescue!

My heart’s desire was to be one of the boys, but I secretly had my girly things, too.   My grandmother and an auntie were both quite accomplished seamstresses.   They would make beaded ball gowns for my Barbies.   I cherished those gowns.   I also had secret tea parties.   No one but me and my dolls were allowed to attend.

For today’s Technique Lover’s Challenge, I am challenging you to reach back in your cherished childhood memories and create a card or project based on one of them.

For my project, I made a little teapot.   Now, a few days back I said I would be making one.   This is not my ”final” draft.   I got the idea down, I just don’t have all the bugs worked out yet.   As soon as I do, I will post a pattern.

The body of the teapot is stamped with the flower from Artful Inkables‘ Fanciful Flowers.   I created a base from a scalloped circle and attached branches to it.   A little bling decor and a whimsical top and here you have my first teapot.
