Hi Friends 🙂

I have been asked numerous times over the last week or so about how I make the bows on my cards.   I keep forgetting to let my secret out, but I think now it a good time.   I have two words: Bow Easy.    If you are not familiar with the Bow Easy, I cannot recommend it enough.   I use to struggle to make bows until Sharon at Stamp Simply sent me one.   At first I was a little scared of it as it is a weird looking contraption.   Along with the Bow Easy, she sent me several links for tutorials.   I broke down and watched one video and that was all it took.   Now I make perfect bows, every time!    Go get one, if you don’t have one already!!

I can’t express too many times that having the perfect designer paper for a project or card is important to most of us.   Many times I let the colors of a project be dictated by the paper I have on hand.   I would rather it be the other way around!   So, for today’s Technique Lover’s Challenge, we are making our own designer paper.

For my card, I took the baby stamp and randomly stamped it on white cardstock.   Then I took a ruler and BOO1 copic and drew diagonal lines.   I used the same BOO1 copic and made tiny dots as well.   Then I colored the babies with raw silk copic and the BOOOO and BOOO1 copic.

I created a crossover with the designer paper (which is adorned with scalloped eyelet border punch) and used lift tape around the edges to create a pocket.

The insert is simply my image stamped and colored with the bow popped up.   I stamped the sentiment “It’s a boy” below the image and matted it on black.

Here are my deets:

Stamps: Artful Inkables‘ Newborn Blessings

Colors: Basic Black, GP White, Bashful Blue

Ink: Versafine Black Onyx, copics, bashful blue

Accessories: Ribbon(From Sharon Johnson’s Stamp Simply Ribbon Store), circle punches, embroidery floss, candy dots, swiss dots, corner rounder, eyelet border punch, dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!   I hope you’ll pop on over to the TLC forum on Splitcoaststampers.com to play along!   Blessings all.

Hugs,

Holly

So Sweet! Love the idea of making your own background paper. I understand perfectly about the designer paper dictating what colors we use – you are so clever!!!

This looks terrific Holly! I love the light blue/brown combination (they are my alma mater colors). I have a Bow Easy, but haven’t taken it out of the package and don’t know exactly how to use it yet (blushing).

Hope your Aunt is doing okay.
