~Star Challenged~

stardom.jpgGood Morning!

The sun is shining… it is 40 something degrees at 9am… headed to the 60’s today.  The birds are singing and all is well with the world.    Then how come I felt like I should have stayed in bed after seeing today’s challenge?   Well, it is because I am STAR CHALLENGED!    I only own one star set (well two if you count the sentiment set that goes with it).   I struggle with stars…they are pointy..lol.   I like soft curvy (scallops!) and straight edges… stars give me fits!     I did not have a large enough star for what I wanted, so I set out to make my own.   I drew star after star… all of them wonky.   Finally, I cut three triangles and fitted them together to make a star pattern.. it kinda worked.   My star is not too bad, is it? LOL

I considered making my own star dp, but then I thought that would be star overkill, so I went with polka dots.   I like polka dots.   Oh, and I just got these cool star brads (funny, I don’t remember ordering them!) from SU!, so I slapped one of those babies on there, too.   And just because there weren’t ENOUGH star images on my card, I strung some punched stars on a silver cord and added that as well.    Now this looks like a star has thrown up on my card, but what the heck, with all the drama I had making it, why not!

Truly, I am giggling over here, because after all the hoopla of making the card, it took me 8 tries to get a decent photo.   Going back to bed is looking more and more appealing all the time.. LOL.

Here are the deets on my card:

Stamps:  Verve Visual Polka Stars and Starlight Starbright remix

Colors: Real Red, Buckaroo Blue, GP White

Ink: Real Red, Buckaroo Blue

Accessories: star brads, ribbon, silver cord, star punch, oval punches, stipple brush, pencil eraser (to create the polka dot background), dimensionals.

TFL and have a happy, healthy day!

Well, you fooled me, Holly. I’d never know you were star challenged lol 🙂 This is a great card! Love the stars on the string, on the star itself (love how you made it) and the curvy ones at the corners — see you can get curves and stars to work together 😉

I’ve been eying the star punches for some time now and haven’t taken the leap yet as I don’t tend to make cards that suit stars so I’m with you on the star issue. Think I only have one star stamp and a small star stamp someone gave me. Think I’ll stick to flowers LOL.

Have a blessed day and give Marci a hug for me. How did her doctor’s appt. go?? Prayers are with her.

Great card, Holly! I really like the colors, custom polka dot DP and all the stars. It doesn’t look to me like you’re challenged, at all!
