paper-doll-factory-outside.jpg        Good Morning!

Can you believe that I did not get out of bed until 9:30am!??    Granted, I was up until nearly 2am, but dang, I actually slept last night!   I suppose that is what sheer exhaustion will do to ya … :).

Julia’s Ways to Use It challenge this morning is a timely one as I am in need of some quick gifties for several people.   I have been toying (no pun intended) with this idea for about a week now, therefore, I already had most of the supplies I needed on hand.   I loved Cammie’s You’re A Doll set seen here on SCS.     The thing I wanted to change was I wanted to make mine “hands on” as my cousin’s little girl loves to craft!

paper-doll-factory-inside.jpg    I took Cammie’s idea and tweeked it into a little paper doll factory.   I stamped the images from My Favorite Things’ Isabelle Paper Doll Set on white cardstock, decorated the tin, made a little crayon holder and voila!   This took a whopping 15 minutes to make.   I am, however, going to take the images and adhere them to some really cool magnetic paper I have.   I thought about that about 10 minutes after taking the picture!

Here is what you need for the paper doll factory:

Stamps:  My Favorite Things’ Isabelle Paper Doll set  (cover sentiment is handwritten)

Colors:   Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette, GP White, Bella Rose dp

Ink:  Brilliance Graphite Black

Accessories:  Gift tin (Hobby Lobby $1), ribbon, dimensionals, scoring blade, sticky tape, scalloped circle punches, crayons, small scissors, magnetic paper (Office max).

~No Bones About It~

no-bones-about-it.jpg    We received some very sad news last evening.   My aunt Patty had to have her beloved beagle, Roper, put to sleep yesterday.   My aunt Patty is an animal lover.   Her dogs are as precious to her as her children!

I found this really cool tutorial for a spiral pop-up card on SCS, so I decided it would work perfectly for Aunt Patty’s doggie sympathy card.   You can find the tutorial here:

Spiral Pop-Up Card on Tutorial at Splitcoaststampers

no-bones-about-it-inside.jpg   This is a really cute technique and soooooo easy to do!    I drew and cut out the bones, wrote the inside sentiment myself, but the rest of the images are My Favorite Things.     It is turning out to be a MFT kinda day!

Here are the deets on the spiral pop up card:

Stamps:   My Favorite Things’ Gone to the Dogs

Colors:  Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red, GP White, Basic Grey Wassail, Bella Rose dp

Ink:  Brilliance Graphite Black, copics, white gel pen

Accessories:  brads, ribbon, dimensionals, scissors, scalloped circle punch, circle punch, word window punch, sticky tape, bones (hand drawn)

~~~ Update on Aunt Marci ~~~
Things have been a little stressful around here the last few days.   Marci goes for her PET scan today.   They are going to decide whether to continue with the chemo or not.    She is scheduled to have a port put in tomorrow so that they do not have to poke her every other day as it has been in the last month.    She is cranky and tired and generally feeling bad.   We are trying to keep her spirits up.   I think the fact that there are 9 of us living here has not been easy for her.   It is hard to find a peaceful moment with so many bodies crammed in such a small space.
Still, we persevere.   She is quite the fighter and has such a sense of humor.    This is her favorite lately……..
A man walks into his friend’s house and sees the man’s Christmas tree has nothing on it but a shot gun shell perched near the top.   He asks his friend  why the tree is not decorated.   The man replies, “It is!  Haven’t you ever heard of a cartridge in a bare tree?!”
Ha!   That is Marci humor. 🙂
Ok, off to get some fudge made and finish making gifties!
TFL and have a peaceful day!
    I was surprised when I didn’t see a post this morning and now I know why 🙂 Glad your body made you sleep in 🙂
    What a cute idea – the paper craft tin. I’m sure she will giggle with glee when she gets it! Dog card is very well done too – sorry to hear your aunt lost one of her “babies”.
    Thanks for the update on Marci. My heart goes out to her. I pray she will have good news tomorrow. I sent her a Christmas card so the mail keeps coming so it should be there soon. Fun joke 🙂 I forwarded her joke to my mom who loves jokes and sure enough she can’t wait to tell it to a few friends 🙂 Blessings.
    Sorry to hear about your Aunt Patty losing her fur baby — it is such a hard thing to deal with.
    Thanks for the update on Marci, I’m so sorry that she is having such a rough time right now and hopefully the scan goes. Hope my card has made it by now.
    And thank goodness you finally got some sleep!!
