recycling-christmas.jpg    Good evening!

Or should I just say Good Night!? hahaha!

Ok, so I have been working diligently on projects all day…. getting ready for the last minute Christmas rush.   Tired and ready to hit the hay, I signed onto SCS one last time to see if maybe, just maybe, the challenge had been posted.  I thought to myself.. it would be nice to sleep on it and get up to stamp in the morning (or wee hours in my case).

Much to my suprise, dawnmercedes had posted the “Going Green” challenge to use recycled products on our card/project.   My very first instinct was that I had nothing to recycle.   Then I looked down on my desk and saw the wrappers to several candy cane chocolate kisses that I had been eating as I worked!   Lightbulb moment!

I uncrumpled one and it tore.   I tried to unwrap another, that tore too.   So, I went and got a NEW candy cane chocolate kiss from the candy dish and caaaaaaaarefully unwrapped it.   Perfect!    I stamped the Happy Holiday’s stamp from There She Goes’ Year Round Sentiment set and cut out the middle with my xacto knife.   I layered the candy wrapper on a punched Real Red circle and layered the sentiment over top of that.

Ok, now what to do with it.   I wanted polka dots.  Not any polka dots.  I wanted RED polka dots.   I got a new pencil from my stash and  made my own dp, using a pencil eraser and red ink.   I used a little silver thread in my bow to tie in with the silver from the candy wrapper, and voila… done.

OH!!  I just thought of another idea……   maybe I’ll stay up afterall… 🙂

Here are the deets on my card:

Stamps:  There She Goes’    Year Round Sentiments

Colors: GP White, Real Red

Ink:  Real Red

Accessories: red brads, red polka dot ribbon, dimensionals, swiss dots ef, silver thread

chocolate-biscotti.jpg   Here is to new traditions.

My aunt Laura collects biscotti jars.  You know, the big painted ceramic kind?   Well, she doesn’t however like biscotti, so she put the biscotti cookies out on the table last evening and my son Noah wanted to try one.   We made hot chocolate and sat down at the table together and enjoyed a cuppa and biscotti.    Now, Noah is 16.   I don’t get too many of these moments with him, so I cherish the ones I do.

I decided this morning to recapture our little biscotti/cocoa party with a card for the LSC.   I took the tag from the biscotti jar and cut out the lettering.   I drew a piece of biscotti to tuck inside the cup.   I think I will make a little box to hold a couple biscotti, buy a starbucks gift card and give this little treasure to a friend of mine.   Shhhhhhh…. I think she reads this blog!

Here are the deets:

Stamps:  There She Goes’ Let’s Get Together

Colors:  Chocolate Chip, GP White, Holiday Treasures dp

Ink:  Brilliance Graphite Black, Copics

Accessories: ribbon, silver cord, scalloped circle punches, circle punches, scissors, pen and ink drawing of biscotti

biscotti-tin.jpg    So, I decided since I need a gift for a stamping Christmas party this weekend, I would go ahead and make up this tin I have been hoarding to coordinate with the card (and hold some yummy biscotti!).

I purchased the tin from Ellen Hutson’s store.    It was so easy to alter.  I just measured it and wrapped it in Holiday Treasure DP, made a medallion for the front and top of lid and stuffed it.   I hope she likes it!

I am spending the rest of today making punch animals and a gingerbread tree with my cousin’s daughter!   I may or may not be back…. depending on how much energy we expel.. heehee.

Update:  5:00pm

beilynns-gingerbread-tree.jpg   Ok, I am officially exhausted.   This is Beilynn with her gingerbread tree.   She did most of it herself.   It is a little lopsided, but then what Christmas tree isn’t.   🙂   We also made punch animals (penguins, santa, rudolph and snowman), but she wouldn’t sit still long enough to get a second picture taken!

Can I sleep now?!

TFL~  and have a blessed Friday!
