~Some SCS Love~

for-the-love-of-scs.jpg   Good afternoon!

I finally got her to sit still long enough to take her picture!   Here is our Marci with the collection of cards she has received so far from our friends at Splitcoaststampers.com.

Marci writes:

Thank you to all my new friends on Splitcoaststampers.com. You have all touched my life tremendously through your cards and notes of encouragement. I just want to tell you, I am still fighting and will grow stronger through your prayers.

We continue to be blessed daily by the cards and prayers for Marci.   She really feels like she is part of our community :).    Heck, I may even have to get her a screenname soon! 🙂   This picture is proof positive that what we do makes a difference in people’s lives.   I say again, Thank You, from the bottom of my heart!

                     ~ A Candy Box For Brittney~

a-candy-box-for-brittney.jpg     So, my son, Zeke, comes to me and says “Mom, I need a gift for a girl at my work”.   They did a secret santa drawing and he drew the name of Brittney, age 19.   I said, “nuff said, son”.   LOL    I think he has a little crush on this girl.   He went the extra mile and talked with her mom, who also works there, and found out that Brittney loves chocolate.  He found out her favorite chocolates and went out and bought 3 bags of them!   So, mom (uh, that would be me) went to work making a box for Brittney’s chocolate.

Now, I wanted to make a box that 1) could hold all that chocolate and 2) would be big enough to hold cards so I could tweek it and use it again.   So, I took 1 piece of red cardstock measuring 9 1/2 x 8 1/4 and scored it on all sides at 2″ to create the bottom.   I then cut a piece from this Hobby Lobby designer paper  7 1/2 x 6 1/4 and scored at just a tad  under 1″ on all sides to create the top.    I took a craft knife and freehanded the opening, fitting it with acetate.  Voila!  Box..  Now, if that wasn’t simple, I don’t know what is!

I decorated the top with my favorite Santa from Hambo Stamps and made a tag for Zeke to address the box to Brittney.  I lined the bottom of the box with another piece of designer paper.

Here are the deets:

Stamps:  Hambo Stamps Santa and sentiment

Colors:  Real Red, Kiwi Kiss, GP White, Hobby Lobby dp

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Real Red, Copics, Versamark

Accessories:  brads, ribbon, dimensionals, scalloped circle punch, snowdots ef, curvey label punch, stickles, sticky tape, scissors, scoring blade, acetate, xacto knife, silver cord

TLC189 ~ Wishes of Joy Mini Pizza Box ~

wishes-of-joy-pizza-box-open.jpg  Ok, so I’m going back and doing some challenges that I missed before when I didn’t have time or space to stamp.  You can find the instructions for this mini pizza box here.

I thought the little box would be fun if it had an acetate window.   This is how I did it….. I first cut and scored my box (it’s the 3 x 3 btw).   Then I took a small spool of ribbon and traced a circle on the top flap and cut it out with my xacto knife.   I then cut a piece of 3 x 3 designer paper and lined it up with the window and traced the circle onto that.   Cut that out and assembled the inside.   For the outside, I took the piece that I had cut out (the circle) and traced that on the scalloped circle punch out…. then cut THAT out with my xacto knife.   It all lines up pretty good!

Here are the deets on the box:

Stamps:  Sentiment by Hero Arts

Colors:  Kiwi Kiss, GP White, Hobby Lobby designer paper

Ink:  Real Red

Accessories:  ribbon, silver cording, xacto knife, acetate, scalloped circle punch (large), circle punches, hole punch (for ribbon), dimensionals (ya knew I would!).

TFL and have a blessed day!

Great little boxes, Holly 🙂 I finally got some acetate and will have to play with it and try a box like this as a stocking stuffer or as giveaways to the kids I watch after school. Love the freelanced window on Zeke’s box – great shape.

Going to send Marci a Christmas card next so she keeps getting some mail 🙂

Trust the interior house decorating went well and you guys are all set to go now with inside and outside decorating all done!

Wow, the box you made for your son is wonderful! I really like the window shape and the DP layer in the bottom is great for when she enjoys eating all the chocolates!
The pizza box is really cute, too! Perfect for the kisses!
I’m so glad Marci is enjoying her cards! Hope everything is going ok for her!
